Fresh off of a full North American tour with Silverstein and a full US headline tour, BEING AS AN OCEAN has already announced two new tours for 2016. The San Diego, CA-based quartet will next head to Australia, followed by an extensive European run that will feature several festivals and multiple dates with SILVERSTEIN. BEING AS AN OCEAN recently announced their signing to Equal Vision Records with the release of a new song and music video for “Dissolve”.
The new single was recorded in Atlanta, GA at Glow In The Dark Studios with producer Matt McCllellan and takes Being As An Ocean in a more hook-driven direction while still incorporating the band’s signature sound of sophisticated storytelling woven over lush, ambient soundscapes. The unique juxtaposition of Joel Quartuccio’s gritty, impassioned vocal work and Michael McGough’s gracefully soaring vocals creates a distinct blend that is both captivating and cathartic.
To date, Being As An Ocean has released three full-lengths, the latest of which – a self-titled album released last year – found impressive Billboard Chart placements including: No. 3 Vinyl Album, No. 7 Hard Rock Album, No. 11 Independent Album, No. 15 Internet Album, No. 17 Alternative Album, No. 25 Top Rock Album and No. 72 Top Current Album.
Being As An Ocean is comprised of vocalist Joel Quartuccio, vocalist/guitarist Michael McGough, guitarist Tyler Ross, and bassist Ralph Sica. The band will record their fourth full-length album later this year.
Since their inception in 2012, the band has built up up a massive and devoted following all around the world, through relentless touring and a powerful presence on social media. In 2014, the band was noted by Bandsintown as one of the top touring artists for having performed 187 shows throughout the year; And in 2015 they won the award for Best Underground Band at the Alternative Press Music Awards, beating out the massively impressive fellow nominees of State Champs, Knuckle Puck, Major League, Tigers Jaw and The Hotelier in the fan voted category. The band is featured on the APMAs ballot again this year, with Ralph Sica nominated for the ‘Best Bassist’ award. Fans can vote now at AltPress.com/APMAS.
