Renowned NYHC record label, Blackout! Records, is set to make a grand return with a host of vinyl reissues and exclusive releases lined up from this summer through to 2024.
Originally founded in 1989 by Bill Wilson and Jim Gibson, the label boasts an illustrious history, having housed a number of revered acts like Killing Time, Deadguy, Kill Your Idols, Breakdown, H20, and Sheer Terror among others. In a transformative move, Blackout! Records has recently joined forces with Symphonic Distribution, which is expected to rejuvenate the label’s broad catalog and usher in a fresh wave of collaborations.
The inaugural batch of vinyl reissues, starting July 28th, features three titles from the NYHC stalwarts, Sheer Terror, namely, ‘Thanks Fer Nuthin’, ‘Unheard Unloved’, and ‘Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue’. These records will be available in a variety of exclusive limited edition vinyl variants, with additional exclusives to be offered by label partner, Project M (Revolver, Alternative Press, etc). Fans are encouraged to visit the Blackout! Records online store to shop these unique offerings.
Reflecting on the label’s history, founder Bill Wilson recalls: “Sheer Terror was a favorite act at CBGB matinee long before I even considered founding a label. Beyond the band’s striking ferocity, it was Paul’s lyricism – a blend of anger, introspection, and narrative storytelling – that truly set them apart.”
Blackout! Records plans to unveil new vinyl releases each month. Follow them on their official website and social media platforms to stay updated.
