California emo/post hardcore act DOWN AGAIN drop new emotionally gripping single “Actions and their Consequences”

1 min read

California Bay Area based emo/post hardcore group DOWN AGAIN mark their introduction to the world with the release of their emotionally gripping and hard-hitting single “Actions and their Consequences”. Released today on most streaming platforms and premiered this week via No Echo, the song is the first preview of music from the trio to be included on their debut album ‘The Devil Is A Gentlemen’, which is set for a TBA early Summer 20’ release date.

“Actions” is a deeply personal song that vocalist/guitarist Lenny Costa penned about the ones closest to him spiraling out of control during his youth.

“Watching my father, brother and best friend all walk away from their faith while dealing with cases of substance abuse and homelessness took a toll on me,” said Costa. “As someone who has experienced the fragile moments with my own faith, I hoped there was no god and heaven because I would have rather it been fake than me going to heaven without them.”

Down Again writes music with a shared purpose, hoping to connect with the listener while being vulnerable regarding their shortcomings and struggles.

The band is rounded out with bassist Alex Wechter (bass) and Lucas Garcia who handles guitar for live shows and also provided drums, keys and additional vocals on the recording. “Actions” was produced and mixed by Nick Loiacono (Kingdom Of Giants, Wolf & Bear, Secret Band, Demon In Me). ‘The Devil Is A Gentlemen’ was also produced by Loiacono, and was recently completed with the band currently putting final touches on the effort.

About Down Again:

California Emo/Post-hardcore outfit Down Again has been carefully planning their introduction to the world and released their single “Actions and their Consequences” as just a preview of what is included on their newly completed LP. These long time trio of friends have spent the last 8 years outdoors skating, surfing and hiking, all while planning out their powerful message and ideas to be channeled through this musical outlet. The music on “Actions..” and their upcoming album touch on the struggles of questioning faith, loss, infidelity and mental health.

Down Again draws heavy influence from early 2000’s favorites such as Brand New, The Plot In You, Manchester Orchestra and Underoath. Members prior bands have shared the stage with groups like Kingdom of Giants, Jamie’s Elsewhere and Secondhand Serenade. The band is rounded out by Lenny Costa (vocals/guitar), Lucas Garcia (vocals/guitar/drums/keys) and Alex Wechter (bass).
