Following the Fall 2013 release of their debut single “Until You Turn Blue” on Nick Hook’s Calm + Collect label, COLOR FILM returns with a video for the initial offering directed by Shane Annas (Araabmuzik, DJ Blaquestarr, Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire). From the Director:
“We wanted to make something dark, minimal and moody. The entire video was shot in a hallway at Rick and Daryl’s studio. I wanted it to be stripped down to just the two of them, letting the performance drive the video, and letting the bass and vocals drive the performance. The mirror set-ups are something I’ve been experimenting with recently. I wanted to achieve the effect in-camera rather than in post, and I’m very happy with how it came out.”
Color Film is the latest project of longtime collaborators Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw, Head Automatica) and Richard Penzone (Men, Women and Children). Inspired by their love of early post punk, Color Film finds Palumbo and Penzone channeling these influences through their own dynamic and layered lens.
After collaborating on a track for Nick Hook’s 2013 release Without You, Color Film released a single and remix package for Hook’s new label Calm and Collect. The single also received a rework from Michna (Ghostly International) , Doc Daneeka (Ten Thousand Yen, 50 Weapons, Nmbrs) and Anenon (Non Projects).
