CURSES deliver a fresh dose of Sydney’s hardcore heat with debut EP “Let the Rats Feed”

1 min read

Sydney’s latest metallized hardcore outfit, CURSES, has burst onto the scene with their debut EP, Let the Rats Feed. Formed just last year in 2023, this group of friends came together with a shared passion for creating a heavier project, drawing on their experiences from previous bands. What started as a fun endeavor quickly gained momentum, and now they’re making waves in the local scene.

Their influences span a wide range, from punk and hardcore to black metal, giving their music a raw and aggressive edge. Fans of INCENDIARY, HER NIGHTMARE, MAGNITUDE, and MOMENTUM will find a lot to love in CURSES’ both dynamic, pissed off and sinister sound.

Let the Rats Feed is a five-track blitz that’s fast, aggressive, and tailor-made for the mosh pit.

The EP tackles themes of identity and emotional introspection, adding a layer of depth to its hard-hitting intensity.

The band also gave a shoutout to the thriving local scene, mentioning that Sydney is in a great place right now with a ton of new and exciting bands.

They recommended checking out HOMESICK, TERMINAL SLEEP, SKORN, THRESHOLD, GRAVITATE, MAULER, MIGRAINE, JUSTICE FOR THE DAMNED, ILL NATURED, WRETCHED WORLD, FEEL THE PAIN, and BITTER PEACE, all of whom are making their mark alongside CURSES.

CURSES are off to a strong start, and Let the Rats Feed is just the beginning. If you’re into heavy, mosh-worthy tunes with a sharp edge, this is one band you won’t want to sleep on.
