DAWN RAY’D plan limited edition release of ‘Behold Sedition Plainsong’ to benefit Refugee Rescue

June 3, 2020
1 min read

Liverpool-based black metal trio, DAWN RAY’D, have announced a limited edition version of their latest album, Behold Sedition Plainsong to benefit Refugee Rescue charity. The red and black variant is limited to 100 copies and will be made available via Bandcamp only, this Friday, June 5; on that day, Bandcamp will waive their fees for all artists, meaning the maximum amount of money can be donated to Refugee Rescue.

The band commented:

“While Covid-19 has presented plenty of new challenges, there are ongoing struggles that are also exacerbated by the pandemic, one of which is helping people cross borders to safety. We will also be donating all proceeds from merch sales on Friday to support bail funds in the U.S. Support Refugee Rescue, support Black Lives, no human is illegal!”

Further explanation is provided in the video below.

Opening the album with evocative album intro, Raise The Flails, its rallying cry – ‘It’s time for new tales of resistance’ – sets the tone of the rest of the album. Behold Sedition Plainsong comprises of 11 tracks of what will surely become their trademark sound: pure black metal, shot through with sonic flecks of traditional folk. Each song is an emotional response to a political struggle, with a clear focus on ecological destruction and anti-capitalism.
