DEADGUY return with new album Near-Death Travel Services, first since 1995’s Fixation on a Co-Worker

1 min read

New Jersey’s Deadguy, a band whose lone full-length Fixation on a Co-Worker became a cornerstone of ’90s metalcore, have officially announced their second album after nearly three decades. Titled Near-Death Travel Services, the record will be released on June 27 via Relapse Records. A lead single, Kill Fee, has been made public along with an official video.

Near-Death Travel Services marks the band’s first new material since disbanding in 1997 and follows their 2021 reunion. It was produced by Steve Evetts, the same producer behind Fixation on a Co-Worker. The band noted that the new album was recorded “in fits and starts over a matter of months,” reflecting the staggered, possibly chaotic process of its creation.

The return to Steve Evetts as producer suggests a deliberate thread of continuity with their earlier sound, but no explicit statement has been made on whether Near-Death Travel Services revisits, departs from, or redefines the sonic and thematic elements of their 1995 work. The track titles hint at themes of disillusionment, cynicism, and confrontation, echoing the band’s legacy of abrasive honesty.

To mark the album’s release, Deadguy will perform a release show on July 12 at Crossroads in Garwood, New Jersey.
