A little over 10 years in metal/hardcore, South Holland hardcore pack GET SOME released their debut album “And Then You Die“, And Then You Die, earlier this year. The album walks the line between beatdown hardcore and fast-paced thrash metal, perfectly displayed in their closing track “On The Run”. Capturing the feelings of a refugee on the run: their refusal to kneel down for imaginary, hatred for the military and police, and resolution to run and fight to be free, the track just got a new music video, and we’re thrilled to give you its premiere right here! Filmed at several Rotterdam, The Hague, Sofia, and various location sin Edinburgh, the new clip is up and ready for your viewing pleasure.
“The song is the bonus track on our release since it turned out quite exclusive and exceptional. It was written in a very organic and very fun way.” – comments the band.
“The music was written and recorded back in 2019, while the lyrics and the singing were written much later in 2021 in the pandemic isolation. It came out of a freestyle jam session where our good friend, Rotterdam’s legendary underground artist Wesley Walker (Gewoon Fucking Raggen and tons more) nailed it with us! A few other friends scored features in it too.”
Expounding more on the lyrical content behind the song, the band continues: “Again, it’s about these many tortured souls running for thousands of miles away from their homes in despair. We are all being lost, manipulated, and abused by the greedy system with dirty secret agendas, but when you see such ugly, sad scenes, it just gets impossible to believe in their lies anymore. Sadly the majority of the people do…and then you die! Still, we wanted and felt like there were certain humor and fun vibes in this, so we tried to capture it in the video!”
Get Some’s debut full-length, And Then You Die, was released on March 18th this year on CD and digital formats via WTF Records.
Get Some is a band from South Holland with freaky, filthy, and frustrated grooves, as they titled their 2018’s EP reflecting on what they strive to deliver. Their story began in 2012 when Jos, Sander, and Sven turned the amps back on, realizing there was an itch they needed to scratch further on. Hence, after years of jamming in bands such as I-Reject and Brothers in Blood, the crew got together for a new hardcore project: GET SOME.
Get Some toured all over Europe, from Greece to the UK, shared the stage with the likes of Slapshot, Fury Of Five, BillyBio, Merauder, and many more known heroes. They played at prominent festivals like Sound of Revolution and lately Among The Angels. Their no-bullshit attitude and uncompromising style hit like a steaming train, leaving the crowds begging for more.
The completion of Get Some’s debut album, And Then You Die, wasn’t a walk in the park for the band as they suffered, struggled, and then burned themselves to write and record the album mainly during the pandemic period (2019-2021) in a few locations in Europe (The Netherlands and Bulgaria). Out of the blue, two of the members left the band just a few months before the release, pursuing a different music route. And the hardship Get Some underwent was expressed throughout the powerful lyrics and the chaotic sonic might. It will be injudicious to consider the songs merely as vessels of venting out anger as each song is a story itself.
Comments the band: “Despite the frequent line-up changes, this full-length is a natural follow-up to the preceding two EPs, backed by countless shows all over Europe for almost a decade now.
“So, it’s safe to say this is a collection of loud and angry stories from all the periods of the band’s existence. It is fueled by the everyday struggles and the contradictive ‘dynamics’ of a world full of insanity. The booklet notes say: ‘recorded in the evil isolation of 2019-2021.’ Yes, slow-cooked, twenty-five minutes of fast sonic mayhem! Neurotic grooves, riffs, and touches of melancholy with ‘tongue in cheek’ messages!”
