FINAL PRAYER breaking up!

1 min read

Berlin’s brutal hardcore force FINAL PRAYER is calling it quits. The band is currently booking a couple of final shows, to be announced very soon. Their latest album “I Am Not Afraid” was released in 2012 via Let it Burn Records, Cobra Records and Acuity Music.

Let It Burn Records commented:

With pain in our hearts, we have to say goodbye to one of Europe’s best hardcore bands, with whom we had the honor to work for many years and many releases.

Here’s the official word from the band:

As some of you might have noticed, it’s recently been very quiet in the Final Prayer Collective. This is a very unusual situation for us. Because of Stephan’s severe injury we had been forced, for the first time during the entire history of the band, to cut back for an indefinite amount of time. Free from the everyday hustle and bustle of the band, we suddenly found time to put the band in perspective. Not only this; there were also changes in our private lives that caused us to re-think and reconsider.

After numerous meetings and intense talks we came to realize that our priorities in life, and the ideas we individually hold with regards to the future direction of the band, were often a long way away from each other. Because of that, to simply carry on at the usual pace and level of passion appeared impossible to us.
Seeing that Final Prayer has never been a ‘business thing’, driven by money or success but by passion, fun and certain values and ideas, we have decided that now is the right time to split up.

We started as a small DIY project amongst friends and it was always important for us to carry this often intense and demanding ethos along. So to simply exchange a few band members was not an option. To fade away, or to carry on for the sake of routine, was not an option for us either. Our decision to end the band has been the result of a long, intense thought process which took quite some time. In the end, it feels like the right thing to do, and we feel free from all kinds of pressures and obligations.

We would like to use this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for enabling us to take away so many great memories and experiences from 11 years of Final Prayer. Memories and experiences which go far beyond simply playing loud, noisy music.

We are working on a couple of last shows at the moment. We will keep you all in the loop on this during the next couple of days, and we are beyond excited to rage one more time with all of you.

We were more than this – Final Prayer
