Finnish-Nepalese hardcore quartet DEFIANT tackles shamanistic rituals in new video for heavy banger “Demons”

Fresh off the release of their massive new EP on Bound By Modern Age Records, metallic hardcore band DEFIANT are joining us for the official premiere of their new music video “Demons”!

The sophomore EP by the self-proclaimed “wanderer” vegan straight edge outfit blends chaotic 90s style metalcore with breakdowns in the vein of bands like Converge, Jane., Bloodlet, and more crossover metal/hardcore hooks that blazes forward with its heaviness.

Their unconventional approach to writing music and disregard for all the pre-conceived musical boundaries is what makes them unpredictable and an interesting listen.

Chaotic riffs, visceral screams, irate beatdowns, primal grooves and tribal chants convey a sense of panic and disorientation. Committed to the vegan straight edge ideals the band aims to push the envelope with their music and message.

“Shamanism has a long history around the world.” – the band comments about the content behind the new music video.

“Different cultures and geographical locations have their own histories and expressions of shamanistic and mediumistic practices. This video has footage from Kirant people’s shamanistic ritual practices in Ilam district of Eastern Nepal.”

The lyrical content of the song ‘Demons’ speaks about animal cruelty.

“They are written from an animal perspective in an effort to convey the horrors of industrial animal farming.” – comments DEFIANT.

Asked aboyt the writing process, the band admits that it departed from the usual. “We adopted more collective writing process for Demons and it came together organically.”
