FOREIGN HANDS draw from early ‘00s metalcore with new single and video “Separation Souvenir”!

1 min read

Ready to solidify themselves as a band to know in the ever growing metalcore scene, FOREIGN HANDS (mentioned in our recent interview with Florida straight edge hardcore / metalcore warriors CONTENTION) have shared their ear-grasping new single “Separation Souvenir”, out today. A perfect blend of heavy and melodic, the song transforms classic structures and lyrical tropes (“cross my heart and hope to die”) and pushes them forth with a modern edge. The video for the track draws influence from the music the band members grew up on, paying homage to clips like Poison The Well’s “Botchla,” and was directed by friend and collaborator Ashley Simpson.

Separation Souvenir” comes as the first taste of the bands upcoming EP, Bleed The Dream, out February 18th via budding hardcore label DAZE. The five-song EP was recorded with Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios (Wristmeetrazor, Weekend Nachos) and Isaac Hale of Knocked Loose also contributed a hand in the writing process. The tracks teeter between metalcore and hardcore, strewn with chaotic riffs and raw emotion that make for an inticing package. To celebrate the release, Foreign Hands will head out on a short tour with Silenus starting February 26th. You can watch the video for “Separation Souvenir” above and pre-order Bleed The Dream here.

Speaking further on the single, the band states: “‘Separation Souvenir’ was a song that we knew had to be the single when we finished writing the EP. It’s got a little bit of everything in it and we all felt like it showcased our sound well. From the start, we had a pretty clear idea of how we wanted the video to look – we wanted it to be reminiscent of the music videos we all grew up watching. Our super talented friend Ashley Simpson really helped us bring that vision to life, and it feels like a perfect visual accompaniment to both the song itself and the EP as a whole.”
