The new EP 4 Dni by this post-hardcore band, which premieres exclusively on our magazine today, is a narrative unfolding in four acts, each representing the emotional toll of depression. LIE AFTER LIE has crafted a concept where every track symbolizes a new stage in the disease’s suffocating grip, giving a voice to feelings often too overwhelming to articulate.
The new tracks are a perfect example of emotional Polish post-hardcore, balancing on the edge of a spirit from the past that has echoed through the 80s Polish punk scene, through screamo, and into a more nostalgic, cinematic post-hardcore. Pumping so much energy into your brain, it’s a heart wrenching sound that will appeal to fans of Touche Amore, as well as those who appreciate the legacy of Złodzieje Rowerów.
📢 The exclusive stream of the EP has been taken down. One of the tracks is available below. The full release will be re-published on the official release day.
What sets this release apart is its ability to balance raw emotion with the lingering echoes of Poland’s punk roots. Drawing on influences ranging from the 80s punk scene to the cinematic edge of post-hardcore, 4 Dni will resonate with fans of both Touche Amore and the homegrown spirit of Złodzieje Rowerów. Yet, this EP isn’t content with merely exploring sounds. It digs into the psychological darkness that so many face but too few discuss openly.
“‘I froze, I drowned, I didn’t understand…,’” are the haunting words that capture the essence of Dzień 2, a track dealing with the crushing weight of resignation in the midst of depression.
It’s a song that doesn’t just describe numbness but inhabits it, freezing the listener in its icy grasp. “The help that was being offered from the other side,” hints at a missed lifeline, a reminder that in such moments, reaching out can be a matter of life or death. And to reinforce that, the band has included vital information at the end of their release: +48 800 70 2222, a 24/7 Polish helpline for those in crisis, run by the ITAKA foundation.
Behind the heavy lyrics and sound, there’s the unmistakable touch of their former guitarist, Krzysztof Szczęsny, who handled recording, mixing, and mastering. The band’s commitment to maintaining creative control shows in every layer of their music, further emphasized by the powerful cover art designed by Witold Winek.
The imagery and the sound combined invite the listener to confront their own internal battles, the silent wars that many endure alone.
While LIE AFTER LIE have been active for years, this EP marks a significant step forward, with their participation in the Ultimate Emo Party tour nearing its conclusion, signaling the start of something bigger in the coming year.
