Established in 2008, GLASSES emerged from the German DIY punk-scene and their former bands such as Eaves, Perth Express, Trainwreck, The FA and the 244gl. Although the four-piece was spread out over four different cities, the band released two albums and a split-7“. In 2020 they recorded some new tracks in June 2020. This month, Contraszt! Records presents the band’s entire catalogue, remastered by Brad Boatright and remixed by David Deutsch! The new batch of copies comes on 350x Black and 150x Limited transparent Vinyl and can be grabbed at this location.
Comments the label: “There was a time when there was no way around Glasses. I think everyone who’ve been involved in the European hardcore scene around the year 2010 was totally blown away by their furious fast Hardcore Punk and their excessive live shows. In the short time of four years they recorded two 12” Records and a split 7” with Comadre, which they shared the tour van not only at one occasion. Formed by (ex-)members of Trainwreck, The F.A, Perth Express and The 244GL they brought together the passion for dark and crushing Hardcore with a good sense of metal infused still driving riffing, heavy drumming and powerful vocals.”
“”Compedium” is a collection of our work between 2008 and 2020.” – adds the band. “After a long hiatus we recorded two new songs in 2020 – and at the same time we were sort of rethinking our old material – ending up with a remix of our first self titled EP and our split 7″ with Comadre, as well as a remastered version of our last album The ills of life. Enjoy!”
With vocalists Sam moving to the US it became a bit quiet around the band in the last years.
During the months of the pandemic they joined transatlantic forces to become creative again, writing and recording new stuff. Contraszt! Records is excited to the bone to release their complete musical output – now remastered and remixed as “Compendium” on heavy double 180gr. 12” vinyl with stunning new artwork by Sam Muljat and a limited edition on transparent vinyl.
