Kalpa is a five-piece-playing-loud collective located in Athens (GR) that intends to deliver intense soundscapes to listeners constantly challenging their sonic limits. Bearing their roots in sludge and drawing elements from all hardcore, Kalpa embrace post metal in its deepest, darkest and purest form.
2015 marked a defining year for the band. The release of their debut album “Sequences*” was followed by their first tour, receiving a warm welcome in the local underground scene and some notable reviews from music press.
Adding raging vocals as a key factor to their strange equation, in 2016 they released their latest studio album “Dissociation”. This new album consists of five powerful composes that reveals KALPA’s darkest and more aggressive approach through screaming and heavily distorted guitars/bass guitar riffing, along with gloomy melodies and devastating soundscapes under a staggering drumming play. Kalpa as an act is mainly influenced by Converge, Neurosis, Isis, Tool but they have developed a very personal sound and structure marking a new approach in post metal /dark hardcore scene.
MNRV got together in late 2011 in order to escape crushing daily routine.
They started playing loud, yet voiceless music, then entered the studio to record material which took form in their self-titled debut album released in March 2014.
The band’s been making music & performing ever since, fusing their influences, experimenting and adding vocals to their line-up.
At the moment they are working towards putting out their second full-length ‘Gorod Zero’ in November 2016 – recorded in Athens, late 2015 and mastered by Alan Douches at WWSM. Routine can wait.
