GRIEF RITUAL drops insane new single “Consumed”

1 min read

Hope you don’t get scared off by this demon—it comes at you with an industrial snarl from the very start. Push through it, and see what waits deeper. Consumed, the new single from Grief Ritual, drops on January 31st, the same day as their debut album Collapse.

There’s no salvation in these church bells—just the sound of a system grinding us all to dust.

“Consumed, and the album Collapse, is about how capitalism is killing us,” says Grief Ritual.

“It’s about the links from that to fascism, populism, colonialism, and imperialism, and the bigotry, racism, and patriarchal subjugation these bring. We are bombarded by continual streams of information, ragebait news, inane products, snake oil sales, people masquerading as influencers, and hideous political figures. We are overworked and underpaid to the point of burnout, and then expected to take on more and more. People know more about vapid celebrities than they do about their own rights, their history, the background and backers of their politicians and political leaders. It has been normalized. We have been turned from individuals within communities to selfish consumers, feeding the very thing that is destroying us. We are being choked and swallowed by the snake of capitalism, and the alt-right, and fascism it brings.”

There’s no soft landing here. Grief Ritual isn’t offering escape, just hurling you straight into the wreckage. Consumed sounds like erosion, like the last light in a dead city. If you’ve ever felt your soul ground down by work, by the weight of political decay, this is for you. There’s no hope in this song—just the raw acknowledgment of how deep the rot runs.

Their UK tour kicks off February 6th at The Black Heart in London before tearing through Birmingham, Brighton, Newport, and Bristol.
