Grindcore legends PHOBIA release two-decade retrospective via Melotov Records

1 min read

Melotov Recordsย presents theย March 4thย release ofย PHOBIA’sย Decades of Blastphemy,ย a massive 4-CD discography chronicling the first two decades of the definitive grindcore band’s career.ย Decades of Blastphemyย collects 17 complete Phobia releases, originally released between 1990 and 2010, equaling over 150 tracks of pure Phobia grind.

Founded in 1990 in Orange County, Californiaย by frontmanย Shane MacLachlan,ย Phobiaย has shared stages with punk, grind, and metal legends likeย Chaos UK, Napalm Death, Mayhem, Voivod, Deicide,ย andย Neurosis.ย In MacLachlan’s words, the band puts out a “grinding noise assault, based onย the energy and ideals of hardcore punk andย the power and brutality of early grind.”ย Many members have come and gone; theย current lineup consists ofย Shane MacLachlan, guitaristย CC Grind, bassistย Calum McKenzie, and drummerย Bryan Fajardo (Gridlink, Noisear, Kill the Client).

Based in LA, Melotov Records has made its name championing crucial young bands of today’s underground metal and hardcore realms:ย ACxDC, Old Wounds, Tidemouth, Gatecreeper,ย andย Outer Heaven,ย to name a few. Melotov boss Melanie Voltz calls Phobia’sย Decades of Blastphemyย collection the label’s “crowning achievement” to date โ€“ a chance to pay tribute to one of the godfathers of the scene who are still active to this day.

With Melotov releasingย Decadesย in the US,ย Selfmadegod Records will handle the European release.
