Flooded World, the newest single from Perth based poetic, emotive post hardcore punks SHIT NARNIA, is an imposing mid-tempo monolith, a post-hardcore bruiser that swipes textures from across the broad church of heavy music and puts them to work conveying trans existential despair. Today, we’re thrilled to give you its first listen, ahead of the release of their new LP “Cloudbelt” in March 2022.
Produced and recorded by Mitch McDonald (The Love Junkies, CALMLY, Hussy) and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven), Flooded World represents Walyalup/Fremantle punks Shit Narnia’s most careful, layered work thus far. Driving, doom-influenced guitars are topped with alternating clean and harsh vocals inspired by 00s screamo, the voices of three-quarters of the band collaborating to express internal tumult.
This, the third single from Shit Narnia’s forthcoming debut Cloudbelt, is pure, cathartic anguish, a testament to the seemingly inescapable power that binary modes of thinking have in Western society. It is a sonic expression of the fear that we will never be able to free our bodies from these frames of reference, no matter how deeply they wound us.
Shit Narnia will be launching FloodedWorld at the Bird on the 12th of February 2022.
Cloudbelt will be released on LP and digital formats in March of 2022.
