PAURA

In the riotous din of the hardcore music scene, Paura wields colossal, seething riffs and beats as their weapons of choice. The Brazilian quartet’s new single “Retaliate” speaks in sonic fury, ushering in the imminent release of their eighth studio album, “Karmic Punishment“. The track’s enraged tenor adds another layer to the band’s relentless crusade for anti-fascist culture.

Retaliate” sees the band collaborate with Anderson Silva, the vocal juggernaut behind Undostais and Unshaken. The result is a visceral tapestry of sounds, accentuated by Silva’s vibrant vocal timbre, echoing the band’s message of resistance against fascism and prejudice. Silva’s commentary on his feature sheds more light on the song’s ethos, comparing it to a double-edged sword—a comforting embrace for those in the fight for a just society, and a stern rebuke for those who propagate hate.

This new release follows their previous single “World to be Free,” another testament to the band’s ethos of liberation and resistance against extremism. The upcoming album “Karmic Punishment,” slated for release between June and July, serves as the larger canvas on which Paura etches these thematic strokes. It’s a platform to raise their voice against the trapping mindsets of the dominant class and engage listeners in their fight for freedom.

In the midst of this furious creative output, Paura’s lineup saw a shuffle due to the pandemic, an obstacle they’ve taken in stride. The refreshed lineup comprises former band members, infusing a sense of familiarity into their new beginnings. Their plans for 2023 include hitting the road to promote their new album, starting in Brazil and South America, and eventually spanning the globe.

As hardcore connoisseurs, the band appreciates the worldwide resurgence in the genre, highlighting Zulu’s “A New Tomorrow,” Scowl’s “Psychic Dance Routine,” and Incendiary‘s “Change The Way You Think About Pain” as their top picks for the year. These selections, according to them, represent an evolution in the hardcore scene, a rejuvenation they welcome as longtime participants in the genre. Paura stands firm amidst this vibrant landscape, their angry riffs and beats echoing the pulse of their resistance.
