HEAVY HEARTS – “Garden Arm” video

1 min read

The fun fact about this visual is that the group of guys playing for the better portion of the video are the dads of the guys in the band. The original idea came out of a joke about what the band would look like if they kept playing in the same space for the next 25 years, playing the same tunes. It was shot with a mid-2000s Sony Handycam in the HEAVY HEARTS jam space.

Heavy Hearts is a four piece based out of Niagara On The Lake, Ontario. The band released their debut EP, Jacoba in October of 2013 via local record label Indoorshoes. Since then the band toured and played a handful of festivals over the summer of 2014 while still working to refine their songwriting. In mid July of 2014 Heavy Hearts entered the studio with Sam Guaiana to record their follow up EP, “Somewhere A While Ago”. This new release is faster and more aggressive than the material that was found on it’s predecessor and lyrically, is heavily influenced by relationships and lifestyles that take place in a small town rural environment. During the recording of “Jacoba” the band was strongly focused on recreating their live performance in the studio while this time around the songs contain more ambiance that will allow different layers to be picked up on with each listen. “Somewhere, A While Ago” is set to be released on February 3rd of 2015 and the band has two tours during the early winter planned to promote the release.

“Somewhere, A While Ago” is a collection of four songs stemmed from the relationships with family and friends that are created in a small town. Watching long time friends move on and grow as individuals while you feel stuck in one place at home and weeks seem to blend into one another. Working in a tourist industry and spending every night at the bar with the same faces. Wanting to to change the lifestyle that you’ve grown with been and conditioned to think isn’t a dead end.
