4 years after their debut EP Between My Claws and 2 years since the release of their split with Mexican alt post hardcore act JOLIETTE, Austin based emotional hardcore / post hardcore act LYED return with their debut full length. Titled “The Immolated Earth”, the record fuses at least a couple of styles with an infinite ease. There are hints of emotive hardcore, metalcore and emocore among its melodies and shuffling beats, but juxtaposing its poignant feel are slotted darker moments and energy associated with screamo. The record works on many different levels and we’re thrilled to give you the first listen just in time for its official release today on Middle-Man Records, Zegema Beach Records, and Contrition Records! Dive into it below. It’s never less than compelling.
The band commented on the lyrical content and the aesthetics of the album:
Lyrically the album delves into the acceptance of the loss and pain associated with death and passing. The learning associated with watching loved ones come, and the eventuality that they will all go. Garrett Smith I think did an excellent job to capture that theme within the cover.
We recorded the album in a house in South Austin in Spring of 2016, so the realization of the album has taken alot of effort by many individuals.
Overall the sound we were going for is reminiscent of the early-2000s emotive hardcore and metalcore and melding that with the DIY setting we currently operate in.
