Israel’s post-metal collective NÜR agrassive leans into aggression with their new massive single “The Line Age”, showcasing their blackened post hardcore soul and even more potential to become one of the most interesting heavy acts in West Asia.
To celebrate the release of the track, we sat down with the band to discuss their project, get some updates from their local scene and learn about their plans for the nearest future.
Hey guys! How have you been in the last 2-3 years?
We have put out on 2019 our Last EP on a 12 inch viynal via our label Suicide Records we were really proud about that release and had a great tour booked in Europe with our good friends Abest we were also booked to do Droneberg festival in Hamburge for the first time with an insane line up and we were so happy about it.
And then covid happen as we were ready to buy our plane tickets and everything went on hold.
The first few months we were stuck at home and didn’t do much , luckily for us we have our own Studio called N10 so we didn’t need anyone to open it for us we could just go downtown and play me(Eran) Liam and Eyal live in the same city Haifa our Bass player Ben is from Tel Aviv.
So we decided to start meeting up once or twice a week in our studio and start playing around with our current sound and find new ways to do what we love. We did have one conclusion from our last EP and that was that we really liked our song “The Snake” and that we should go in that path of tunning and more Sludge/Hardcore approch then the post metal songs that we did in the past . Me(Eran) Eyal and Liam are from the Hardcore Punk scean of Haifa and played in past hardcore and punk bands so it was really very natural for us to go that way. Covid in a way made us feel that we are done with long post metal songs and we are ready to make aggressive music but still incorporate our post metal sound into it. We all had that same feeling at the same time that it’s time to move on.
Tell us a bit more about the new song and inspirations.
The new song came to us when we wanted to explore our new sound and approach to agrassive sludge/hardcore , there are allot of bands that i can say that we are inspired by its really a mix of stuff such as Full of Hell, Potrial of guilt , Today is the day , This Gift is a Curse , Old Man gloom, Cave In, Yautja, Converge and many more.
This is the first song out of our new material that is almost done and ready to go into recording as part of our first ever LP.
Are you planning on hitting the road with your new material?
We are really hoping to go on tour next year aiming for an EU tour CZ,DE,BE. Maybe if we can find promoters also FR or NL (If you are a promoter hit us up).
We want to finish our new album, record it and go on tour with it.
Ok, so lastly, give us a quick update on your local music scene. How has it changed over the last 2-3 years?
Our local scene as always is growing up in numbers and bands and we are happy to see it. We also have a new venue in Haifa where we do our local scene shows called the Z – City.
During the last few years there were some insane releases from local bands that we love that you have to check out.
