After 25 years together and the recent passing of frontman and rhythm guitarist Tony Sly, NO USE FOR A NAME have officially called it quits.
The split was allegedly announced by bassist Matt Riddle last Saturday (September 8th) at Le Parc de l’Ilot Fleurie in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, where a benefit show for Sly took place. He simply stated, “this is it, this is the last No Use For a Name show ever.” After receiving disapproval from the crowd, he added “No one wants to do this without Tony”.
In other news, the band issued the following statement on September 7th, 2012:
On behalf of Fiona, Keira, Brigitte, Tony & the rest of the Sly family, we wanted to thank a bunch of talented people- Larry Trujillo, The Uptown, Sloe, Ben Flanagan, Rivals, Young Lions, Weekender, Build them to Break & Michael Leonardy for the tribute show held last Saturday for Tony at the Uptown. Your kindness & generosity was simply amazing. Tony is proud, very proud. thank you!
