JOY – “Cut to the Nerve” video

1 min read

2016 brought North Carolina hardcore outfit JOY’s debut Blood & Ink release: Of Nothing. This year, in response to a high demand from fans, the band is releasing the effort on a limited 7-inch vinyl pressing. Pre-order bundles including limited vinyl colors, shirts and more are on sale now at the label’s web store. In support of the re-release, JOY has premiered a new music video for the Of Nothing song, “Cut To The Nerve.”

“We like to have as much say as possible when it comes to the creative aspects of the band. For this video, wanted to make something chaotic and almost painful to watch. Trying to capture the feeling of hate in a visible form, or maybe what intense anger looks like in your mind.” – Andrew Langhans, Lead Singer

JOY “Of Nothing” 7-in vinyl is available from Blood & Ink Records on 02/24. The band will be hitting the road this spring. Dates and more information can be found below.

3/24 Athens, AL @ El Opry
3/25 Houston, TX @ The White Swan
3/27 Oklahoma City, OK @ Earth Rebirth
3/28 Des Moines, IA @ Vaudeville Mews
3/29 Milwaukee, WI @ Triple Zero
3/30 Lansing, IL @ Royal Skate and Sound

Having formed not even two years ago, JOY offer a fine-tuned, aggressive nature well beyond their youth. After releasing a two-song demo in May of 2015, the quartet toured and played shows all along the East Coast. They’ve shared the stage with acts such as Advent, Shai Hulud, Full Of Hell, Power Trip and many others.

JOY signed to Blood & Ink in early 2016 and released Of Nothing last summer. They recorded with producer Kris Hilbert, whose previous clientele includes Torch Runner and Between The Buried And Me. The effort is an aggressive ode to the darker side of hardcore, melding elements of black and thrash metal for an unrelenting, in-your-face batch of songs.
