JUSTICE FOR THE DAMNED Release Brooding New Single. Touring Australia May/June This Year!

2 mins read

“The last year for JFTD was difficult.” JUSTICE FOR THE DAMNED‘s guitarist Nick Adams states, summing up the experience of the pandemic-era musician. “The last 12 months felt like an utterly chaotic & unending series of tragic events, both in the world around us and in our own personal lives. We consider ourselves lucky to have had our album release to look forward to. Considering the disadvantages of not being able to tour off of the back of Pain Is Power, it was received wonderfully. The positive feedback and kind words from fans & friends alike really injected some light into a dark time and for that we are forever grateful. “

As Australia begins to resemble some sense of normality, the band have seized the opportunity to return to the stage, and to celebrate release a new single ‘Sever What Makes Me Like Them’, recorded during their Pain Is Power sessions with Will Putney in 2019. “Sever What Makes Me Like Them is a song about being born into our world with all its collective issues & darkness. Thematically speaking it’s inspired by the state of our societies. Outdated and built on exploitation of people & planet. It is a statement of frustration and anger, the initial flood of emotion that hits before you are able to deal with it if there’s any way that you can. Whilst this song still held relevance to the messages we wanted to get across, it didn’t quite fit the big picture of Pain Is Power which, rather than brooding in the darkness, looks at seizing strength amidst the pain of life. ”

I’m done being part of the cause.

It is with a sense of realistic optimism that the band looks towards the future, Adams expresses gratitude for the opportunities the band has, rather than lamenting the ones we don’t. “At this point in the pandemic timeline things are looking up. Even without universal access to a vaccine, the community transition in Australia is low enough that live music is returning. Considering all of this, we made the call to book a tour. Antagonist AD & Born Free have graciously agreed to join us and our excitement is such that it is hard to put in to words. JFTD has always found our greatest strength to be the live experience and after such a long break we can say with certainty that we will be coming at this with fire in our belly. ”
