Oakland punk supergroup KICKER — featuring within its ranks members of Neurosis, Dystopia, and Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine with infamous veteran road dog, Pete the Roadie, on vocals — will release their Rendered Obsolete full-length via Tankcrimes/Pirates Press Records next month. The nine-track offering comes sheathed in the maniacally detailed cover craftings of Skinner (Mastodon, Kvelertak, Skeletonwitch), and is a true must-have for fans of Subhumans, Rudimentary Peni, Crass, and general sonic disorder.
Following up their 2012 Tankcrimes full-length Not You, KICKER‘s Rendered Obsolete is brimming with the same cheeky, clever, and catchy two-minute hit-you-over-the-head bouts of realism that earned them so much acclaim in the first place. Pete’s inexorable energy, dedication, and booze-soaked cockney exuberance, alongside the rest of the band’s sheer talent and experience is clear, inspiring, and the reason why punks, skins, metalheads, drunks, and everyone else at the bar loves them so much.
In advance of its release today Punknews is streaming “Full English” for public consumption. Elaborates Pete the Roadie “We are older punx right; we don’t write songs about rioting no more, we write songs about breakfast.”
In conjunction with the release of Rendered Obsolete, KICKER will kick off a short rash of West Coast live assaults supporting anarcho-punk icons Subhumans. Set to inaugurate on September 7th at The Crocodile in Seattle, Washington, the band will level the stages of ten venue, the tour coming to a close on September 17th at Los Globos in Los Angeles, California. Additional support will be provided by Raukous.

More about the band:
Living by the slogan, “We’re here to drink your beer, eat your chips, and bludgeon your ears, with punk,” KICKER was forged in 2010 on rainy night at 924 Gilman. They took refuge in the brewery bar across the street. Guitarist Mauz [Dystopia], had a room full of musical equipment and an idea for a band. Bassist Dave [Edwardson, Neurosis] was looking for a new project. Pete the Roadie – who for over thirty years has roadied for the likes of Subhumans, Amebix, Jello Biafra, Neurosis, and everyone in between – swore he would never cross over to the dark side. Somehow though, he was convinced. They were all looking for something more than everyday life can provide; aging Bay Area/UK punks adapting to new pressures of modern life; resilient enough to let go of the (dis)comfort of the past but bored as fuck with the present. A few lyrics and some guitar riffs led to regular rehearsals and eventually a demo. Soon it was time for the first gig. As it turns out, Roadie is a natural. The band has since released three EPs, a split with Submachine, and one full-length with their second to see release next month. The band recently added drummer Jon Weiss (Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine to the fold (longtime comrade Toby of Submachine plays on the record). And the true spirit of punk rock lives on…
