Here’s the official word from the label and some stream of both bands’ offerings.
Two bands joined the Reflections family and I’m very, VERY excited! The first one is KULT OF THE WIZARD hailing from Minneapolis, USA and they have blues, they have soul, they have The Riff! The first song I heard from them was a cover from Heart called “Devil Delight” and hearing their own deep riffs and then the first line: “Come On Down From The Top Of The Mountain…” I got chills all over my spine! And then their own songs! They’re both catchy and HEAVY and as Decibel Magazine says: “They got mystique and soul”. More info on pre-orders coming soon. Check out the song “Black Moon”. And then… from Germany: WHALERIDER! Their self released debut album has been out on CD for a few months and got raving reviews everywhere (Sludgelord, Fuzz, Rockhard and many more) and we were completely blown away!
WHALERIDER’s sound is massive, tuned lower than the basement, defies convention, and is at times reminiscent of early SUB-POP bands such as TAD and SOUNDGARDEN. But also 70’s psychedelic rock, stoner and classic rock has left its mark on the band. WHALERIDER manages to find a balance between songs that are variously challenging and catchy.
