LA DISPUTE have announced a short run of solo, intimate seated shows during their spring US co-headlining tour with TITLE FIGHT. The shows will be special events featuring the band playing songs that have never been heard live before, as well as, readings of excerpts from their favorite books, stories, and poems, and a Q&A session conducted by the band with the crowd each night. Tickets for these shows are extremely limited and will be available at ladisputemusic.com, starting Friday, January 23rd at 10:00 am EST.
The video was shot at a benefit performance for the Teenage Cancer Trust UK, organized with help from Banquet Records.
The band is currently touring in support of their 2014 full-length Rooms of the House on Better Living in partnership with Staple Records, which appeared on several year-end lists including Paste‘s “50 Best Albums of 2014”, Consequence of Sound‘s “Top 50 Songs of 2014” and Alternative Press‘ “10 Essential Albums of 2014”.
NPR recently praised the record saying, “Rooms Of The House is an album based on what we leave behind, and what it means when new bodies and new emotions inhabit those places. It’s a lofty concept executed with care by La Dispute”. Pitchfork also chimed in with year-end praise for the album, calling it “funny and wry and a little too real and raw… Rooms of the House can also be heartbreakingly romantic – “Woman (in mirror)” proved to be one of the year’s most touching, gorgeously written love songs – all the more devastating upon knowing its inevitable end”.
Rooms of the House was recorded and mixed by Will Yip at Studio 4 in Philadelphia, produced by Yip and La Dispute, and mastered at The Lodge by Emily Lazar. Alongside the new record, La Dispute have created a 48-page companion book titled Yesterday’s Home that details the working process of writing and recording Rooms of the House as well as a special presentation of the album’s lyrics. Rooms of the House can be purchased digitally via iTunes (http://smarturl.it/ladispute) and physical copies of Rooms of the House are currently available and packages can be seen athttp://hellomerch.com/collections/la-dispute.
