PALEFACE SWISS, the modern metalcore act known for their ferocious sound, have just dropped their newest single, “Love Burns.” The track offers a glimpse into their upcoming album, Cursed, set for release on January 3rd, 2024. Directed by Kriss Jakob, the accompanying music video ties directly into the narrative arc introduced in the clip for their earlier track, “My Blood On Your Hands.”
What sets Cursed apart conceptually is its symbolic approach, with each song on the album represented by a specific flower. “Love Burns” is linked to the Cyclamen, a bloom historically associated with themes of farewell and resignation. According to an official press release, the symbolism is intended to deepen the emotional resonance of the album.
Frontman Marc “Zelli” Zellweger elaborated on the significance of the track, describing it as a fusion of the band’s established heaviness with newer melodic elements. “It’s a song I’m immensely proud of. The story I want to tell is something everyone can relate to,” Zellweger said. He also highlighted the album’s cohesive concept, where each flower corresponds to a unique emotion.
Musically, “Love Burns” showcases a bold evolution in the band’s sound. The track begins with a chaotic, Slipknot-esque beat before transitioning into a slower, hauntingly melodic chant. This dynamic shift marks a departure from their earlier brutal metalcore and deathcore roots, revealing a willingness to explore new textures.
Fans can catch PALEFACE SWISS on tour early next year. First, they’ll hit Europe alongside THE ACACIA STRAIN and DESOLATED, starting January 30th in Zurich. This will be followed by a U.S. run with STICK TO YOUR GUNS and NASTY in March.
Stay tuned, as we’re also preparing an exclusive interview with STICK TO YOUR GUNS, which will be published soon.
