Melbourne melodic punk rockers CLOWNS streaming new song & video; watch “Sarah” HERE!

Fat Wreck Chords are pleased to share a brand-new song from CLOWNS (interviewed for IDIOTEQ a couple of years back), off their upcoming double A-side 7,” Does It Matter?, out November 19th and available for pre-order via Fat Wreck and Damaged Records in Australia and New Zealand. You can hear the second single, “Sarah,” blazoning over above.

Vocalist Stevie Williams comments: “Sarah -I’ve never met a Sarah that I haven’t liked. It’s a great name that seems to breed excellent qualities in people. That being said, the Sarah we are referring to metaphorically in this song is the hormone serotonin, and oh boy, is our Facebook relationship status “it’s complicated.”

Our new song “Sarah” explores the idea of how love can be like a drug. Dizzying highs and soul-destroying lows. It can elevate your life to heights you never knew were possible but can at the same time be life-crushingly addictive. We all love Sarah, don’t we? But what happens when she goes away? Why does she go away so often? How come we are so smitten in her presence and yet so surprised when she leaves, especially after a lifelong history of this ambivalent behaviour? It’s love and lackluster for all of us with love and Sarah.

We recorded this song at Red Door studio with producer Woody Annison (The Living End) and co-wrote the tune with Matt Squire (One Direction, Panic! At The Disco).”

Lyrics

Sarah, I think we could be friends
even though you exist in my head
you bring me out of the darkness
and make me wanna live again
but I don’t know
what I mean to you
when you look at me
like I am see through

your body can’t produce it
so just make sure that when you use it
you go and spend it wisely
and don’t use it all at once
but go and buy yourself some candy
pull apart the seams
float on a dream with me

Sarah, your so cool and care free
for someone who is toxic to me
Your someone we all wanna be
but do I really know you that well?
you put a mark next to my name
every time you are blocking my brain

the usage becomes informal
the big highs become the normal
it’s really unsustainable
Your the monkey on may back
with your teeth in my neck
Still, I wanna taste you
I wanna sniff you
I want you inside me

Now and then you’re in my lucid dreams
for the love of my love
I just can’t control the way you scream
and I don’t wanna play that card
when I’m with you we are coming down hard
you treat me like I don’t need no serotonin
I don’t need no serotonin – OH!

the usage becomes informal
the big highs become the normal
it’s really unsustainable
Your the monkey on may back
and it’s hard not to bite
when the hand that feeds you
is the same one, that also beats you

Now and then you’re in my lucid dreams
for the love of my love
I just can’t control the way you scream
and I don’t wanna play that card
when I’m with you we are coming down hard
you treat me like I don’t need no serotonin
I don’t need no serotonin
I don’t need no serotonin
I don’t need no serotonin
