Melodic hardcore act LIMBS premiere new song & video “Suffering”

3 mins read

Fresh off releasing their vicious new singles “Empty Vessel” and “I Used To Be You”, post hardcore band LIMBS is back with the explosive “Suffering”. The third and final song in the band’s newly announced EP “Only The Lonely Know”, fans can check out the music video for “Suffering” above. “Only The Lonely Know” is out now via UNFD.

“’Suffering’ was written as a therapeutic response to my battle with depression and crippling anxiety. It’s essentially a letter to myself, dwelling on the crucial decision of giving up versus pressing forward” shares vocalist Austin McAuley. “The song is just as the title suggests, a tale of one’s own suffering and the unfortunate realization of being unable to preserve my own well-being. The lyrics “Forget my name. Watch me as I fade away like an unmarked grave” are a proclamation to the listener, shedding light on the darkness in one’s mind. Wondering if I’d be easily forgotten when I was gone”.

He continues: “This song was especially difficult for me to listen back to initially because it shows a side of myself that I constantly attempted to hide. Nonetheless, themes of optimism and positivity are gently woven into what seems to be a telling of someone giving up completely. As humans, we can be so easily defined by our suffering but our true colors are shown by how we deal with our ever changing existence”.

Limbs

LIMBS found a home with UNFD in 2018, ahead of the release of their debut album “Father’s Son”, which gives listeners a dark and brooding look at a young man’s journey out of religion as he comes to terms with both his upbringing and his own actions.. A conceptual album following a young man breaking free from his indoctrinated upbringing, the album explores the harm it causes and the strength in reclaiming your own life.

LIMBS’ live video for their album’s title track, “Father’s Son”, was filmed during the band’s 2018 tour with Underoath, Dance Gavin Dance, and Veil Of Maya. Streaming here, the video captures the electricity and raw power of a LIMBS live show – from headbanging to epic stage dives and beyond. Fans have been able to experience it in person as the band has shared the stage over the years with Beartooth, Motionless In White, Sharptooth, Wristmeetrazor, Stick To Your Guns, and more.

Last year, LIMBS announced that longtime friend Austin McAuley would be stepping into the role of lead vocalist. McCauley debuted with LIMBS at the end of 2018 while on tour with Currents, giving fans a taste of his energy and passion before bringing it into the studio for new music.

McAuley first appeared on “Abandoned”, a hard-hitting track and on vicious follow up single “Stare”.

The band recently released “Empty Vessel” and follow up “I Used To Be You”, which marked the first singles featuring new bassist Chris Klumpp and drummer Joey DiBiase, who officially joined the band earlier this year.

Suffering lyrics:

Take it; take it out of the equation.
I just need a little isolation.
Take it; take it out of the equation.
I just wanna be alone.

Stumble and sink like a stone,
Thought this was all that I need.
Always ending up alone,
Maybe I was born to bleed.

Take it away, take it away (I’ve always been),
Running away, running away (I’ll never stop), Losing my faith, losing my faith.
You’ll never get the best of me.
Over and over, I lost my way.
Will I finally make amends with the time I spent in vain?
I can’t escape my own suffering.
Is it this life that’s getting old?
Despair’s a lonely hand to hold.

Take your time,
I’ll give you one more chance to say goodbye.

Over and over, I lost my way.
You’ve taken advantage of my darkest days.
I won’t let it take me. I won’t let it stay.
Over and over, I lost my way.

It’s even harder to let go. Why am I so afraid?
You never really ran away from…
You’re never in it for the long run.
Tell me why I’m still just standing here?

Take it away, take it away (I’ve always been),
Running away, running away (I’ll never stop),
Losing my faith, losing my faith.
You’ll never get the best of me.
Over and over, I lost my way.
Will I finally make amends with the time I spent in vain?

Over and over, I lost my way.
You’ve taken advantage of my darkest days.
I won’t let it take me. I won’t let it stay.
Over and over, I lost my way.

Forget my name.
Watch me as I fade away like an unmarked grave.
Run away,
Turn away from my mistakes.
Does it sound like,
Does it sound just like defeat?
All I know – this life is getting old.
Breathing in again, tell myself it’s not the end.

Take your time,
I’ll give you one more chance to say goodbye.
Come closer, it’s over.
Forget my name.
You’ll fade away just like an unmarked grave,
And I’ll do the same.

Over and over, I lost my way.
You’ve taken advantage of my darkest days.
I won’t let it take me. I won’t let it stay.
Over and over, I lost my way.

Over and over.

Come closer, it’s over.
Breathing in again, tell myself it’s not the end.
