Inspired by the likes of Breach, Cult of Luna, and Neurosis, KOLLAPS\E is the newest post-metal quartet from Helsingborg, Sweden, blending and embracing many different shades of the genre and promising intricate re-imagining of the style. The band features members of Hearts Alive, Miss Mofet and they just released their debut song called “Murrain”, which we’re pleased to feature, along with the band’s special commentary below.
“Covid-19 broke out and our rehearsal place shut down, so we decided to record a few songs at home and this is one of them. The end result came out better than expected so we thought it was a good idea to release it!” – comments the band.
“Murrain is an old word for plague/epidemic and since this is our world right now I decided to construct some lyrics touching that subject.” – continues vocalist and guitarist Daniel Wallenborg. “I tried to write it open ended so the listener can interpret them in their on way.”
Asked about the origins of this project and plans for the coming months, he adds: “KOLLAPS\E came about 1 1/2 years ago. The 4 members hadn’t have an active band for awhile so during talks we decided to give it a go. It took us awhile to get up and running and finding our style of play, but now we kind of know what type of music we want to do. The thing that might set us a part a little is that we are also singing in Swedish. So it will be kind of 50/50 between the languages. Our short term goals are trying the stuff live whenever that might happen due to the epidemic. And then continuing to release more music. After that we’ll just have to see.”
