Delaware metalcore band FOREIGN HANDS have shared their new single “Tearing Down Your Reality,” out today on SharpTone Records. Strewn with chaotic riffs and raw emotion, the track finds the band expertly blending mosh-fueled chords with infectious hooks. The video for the song, shot by Joshua Boerum-Ruhl, plays out like a low-budget horror movie about facing your true-self.
The track pairs with previously released single “Chlorine Tears” to form Lucid Noise which can be streamed here now. Recorded with producer Will Putney (Stray From The Path, Counterparts), the band were able to develop a larger sonic cohesion while still keeping intact their hardcore roots.
On writing “Tearing Down Your Reality” vocalist Tyler Norris stated: “‘Tearing Down Your Reality’ was written and recorded at the same time as ‘Chlorine Tears,’ although it shows the more aggressive side of our band. Lyrically, the song is about people who exploit anyone and use any tactic to get what they want at the cost of being their genuine self. It’s the type of ignorance that comes with being materialistic, egoistic, etc. While some may never come to address that part of themselves, the music video shows how some do in an unsettling way.”
Drawing comparisons to acts like Poison The Well, Foreign Hands has been able to create the perfect formula of heavy and melodic that brings that early ‘00s sound into the modern age. This stood out on the band’s Bleed The Dream EP (DAZE), released in February of this year to critical acclaim, earning praise from the likes of Revolver, Stereogum, Decibel, and Rock Sound just to name a few.
The band recently wrapped a tour with Stick To Your Guns and Kublai Khan, and will head out on a North American run supporting Counterparts, Seeyouspacecowboy, and Dying Wish this November. Determined to keep things moving, the band is already writing new material and planning out shows well into 2023. Between their drive and constant elevation of sound, it won’t be long before Foreign Hands become the torchbearers to a new generation of metalcore bands.
Foreign Hands is Tyler Norris (vocals), Jack Beatson (guitar/vocals), Gill Gonzalez (guitar), Chuck Minix (bass), and Tyler Washington (drums).
“If you’re not on the Foreign Hands train yet, hop on now.” – BrooklynVegan
“‘Chlorine Tears’ finds Foreign Hands fusing crushing heaviness with emotional honesty and clenched-fist catharsis in the vein of sonic touchstones like early Converge, Poison the Well, and 7 Angels 7 Plagues.” – No Echo
