Massachusetts-based metallers MouthBreather have graced their fans with news of their upcoming fourth studio album, titled SelfTape, set to launch on November 10th under the Good Fight Music label. This revelation comes on the heels of their early summer single, “You Try To Die.” Today, the group escalates the anticipation with a new offering— “Ethical Hunting,” a tumultuous fusion of metallic hardcore, technical metal, and post-hardcore elements.

Evoking two minutes of undiluted fury, “Ethical Hunting” features blistering vocals that collide with gargantuan riffs and experimental nuances.

Remarkably, the track draws its thematic essence from a scene in the unsettling horror film, The House That Jack Built. This dovetails neatly into the album’s overarching narrative, with each song gaining inspiration from various movies that have been pivotal in the band’s creative journey. The short film accompanying the track embarks on a similar psychological thriller trajectory, artfully executed by vocalist Brett Cates and Sof Puchley and directed by Louie Chapman.

Self-Tape promises to be a sonically overwhelming experience—relentless, visceral, and unyielding. Those familiar with the band’s previous works like 2021’s I’m Sorry Mr. Salesman, 2018’s Dollmeat, and 2017’s Pig will find thematic threads that weave together.

The album’s production was helmed by Nick Cates and Ryan Fosdick at Burnout Labs and mastered by industry veteran Jay Maas at Getaway Recording.

As for their live shows, MouthBreather will embark on a tour by the end of September, featuring appearances alongside bands like Saltwound and Inferious, as well as a few dates with Kaonashi. The band will make stops in cities like Jacksonville, Charlotte, Raleigh, and others, with a high-octane performance scheduled for Dallas’s Monster Mosh Fest on October 14th.

MouthBreather’s lineup comprises Brett Cates on vocals, Nick Cates on drums, Ryan Fosdick wielding the guitar, and Derek Lamoreaux on bass.
