Pretty Like A Pistol – southern post hardcore rockers LIFE PILOT premiere new video

2 mins read

Adelaide’s chaotic post hardcore act LIFE PILOT have premiered their brand new single “Pretty Like A Pistol”, and they are heading out on the road to show Australia how this new track fits among their chaotic live show throughout November and December 2019! “Pretty Like A Pistol” is live on all online stores and streaming platforms. Tickets are on early next week for their “Pretty Like a Pistol” tour dates now at this location.

Angus Long, vocalist and frontman, says that

“Pretty Like A Pistol, as a whole, is about moving on from the life of a 20-something year old into your 30’s and reflecting on what you have or have not achieved. Realising what could arguably be the most important decade of your life is now over and wondering if that time was spent righteously. A mid life crisis come too soon, not soon enough.”

On the surface, the Pretty As a Pistol clip is a bunch of nonsensical scenes, with no obvious story line, seemingly leaning more into the absurdity and chaos that Life Pilot is known for, than anything deep or meaningful. BUT, within the scenes are small commentaries on the band’s own experiences of their youth – for example, spending days inside the world of video games and ignoring the world around us. The band wanted the video to feel surreal and uncomfortable, but still light and hopefully whimsical – and absurd enough – to make people laugh. It’s a fine line, but Life Pilot are the band to do it.

That surrealism, whimsy and absurdity will then be on show as the Pretty Like A Pistol tour then hits the road throughout November and December as Life Pilot are going to Mt Gambier on Friday November 1 for a Licenced/AA show at North Gambier Football Club with King Parrot, then Thursday November 21 in Melbourne at Bendigo Hotel, Saturday November 23 in Wollongong at Servo Bar, Sunday November 24 in Sydney at Staves Brewery, Wednesday November 27 in Newcastle at Hamilton Station Hotel, Thursday November 28 at Brisbane’s The Brightside, Friday November 29 at Gold Coast’s Vinnie’s Dive and finishing off in hometown Adelaide on Saturday December 14 for a Licenced/AA show at Broadcast Bar.

2019 has been a defining year for Life Pilot, grinding out dates across the country in support of their previous single ‘Dark, Dark, Goose” and now their foreshadowing track “Pretty Like a Pistol”. Not content with merely one headlining Australian tour in 2019, the band is set to tackle the country one more time before the year is out. This relentless nature has earned them a nomination for Best Metal Artist in this year’s SA Music Awards. With 8 new dates across November & December, Life Pilot will stake their claim as one of South Australia’s finest.

To date the band has self released their 2012 Demo EP, 2013 Compass Split record with Statues, their Debut EP, High Noon in 2014 & Sophomore EP “Too Hot For Killing” in 2017 as well as 2019’s standalone riff fest ‘Dark, Dark, Goose’. These releases garnered much attention around the country from Triple J, killyourstereo.com, The Faction, Hysteria Mag, numerous blogs and street press outlets, as well as artist features in Australian Guitar and DrumScene magazines.

Life Pilot has maintained a strong DIY ethos and is no stranger to hard work, and this nose-to-the-grindstone attitude has been rewarded by sharing the stage with many legendary artists along the way. Converge, Every Time I Die, HELL YEAH, Norma Jean, Senses Fail, Kverletak & More, as well as performing at SoundWave Festival and showcasing at BIGSOUND.
