RAMESSES Announce ‘Possessed by the Rise of Magick’ Special Remix 2XLP

2 mins read

UK doom tyrants RAMESSES are busy as ever doing the Devil’s work. Hot on the heels of 2011’s double shot of releases, the bludgeoning trio have just released a special vinyl edition of their last full-length, Possessed by the Rise of Magik. This updated limited edition features the original songs remixed and subjected to a righteous mangling by the one and only Justin Broadrick (Godflesh/Jesu/Greymachine/Final/JK Flesh).

Here’s the rest of the official announcement:

Broadrick commented, “It was with great pleasure that I mixed the Ramesses album, they’re my favourite dooooom band; not afraid to take chances, and not afraid to let the dope do the talking…psychedelic warlords.”

His remixing efforts serve to enhance the audio with his uniquely dark and affecting musical perspective whilst maintaining the true essence of the original recordings – the way remixes should be. All in all, this double LP is drenched in mystery, malaise, and above all, supremely magickal.

Possessed by the Rise of Magik has been released as a deluxe red foiled gatefold, with full colour inner sleeves. Limited to 1000, the 180 gram vinyl album is available in either coal black (800) or clear blood red (200).

RAMESES are also pleased to announce a string of upcoming live actions with NOLA’s ugliest, EYEHATEGOD. The twain shall meet for a series of UK dates (accompanied by young drug gunners DOPEFIGHT) beginning in Bristol on August the 7th and running through Manchester and London. RAMESSES will also be playing a few headlining dates along the way. After that, their next ritual is planned to occur on September 14th at Tilburg’s prestigious Incubate Festival, where they will perform alongside such diverse luminaries as NURSE WITH WOUND, FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, CONAN, STINKING LIZAVETA, and many, many more.

Check out the official bio:

The psychedelic doom trio RAMESSES were spawned in the woodland of Dorset, England in 2003, and have been brutalizing their devoted fanbase ever since, unleashing a rash of EPs and demos, one full-length release, splits with Negative Reaction and Unearthly Trance and more over the past seven years. They’ve ripped a wound in the UK and across Europe with brutalizing live shows alongside some of the best and heaviest names in the extreme metal world.

2010 brings the next slab of raging doom from RAMESSES, in the form of their second mammoth full-length release Take The Curse, which is set to infect the general public on the 2010 Summer Solstice, June 21st. Releasing the album is new label Ritual Productions; the label formed by the band’s management. The beast will see worldwide release on CD and digital download formats through Ritual, as well as a 2xLP version to be released by Scottish label At War With False Noise.

On Take The Curse, mournful harmonies are the backdrop to the ever-increasing influence of The Occult on the band. Although a riff tsunami remains the centerpiece, the RAMESSES sound is refracted through even more circles of hell; of dirge-sludge, of rhythm, of Lucifer himself. Grim melodies, blistering spaced-out guitar solos and atmospheric samples add depth to the tracks and display the band’s eclectic traits and 70’s influences.
