Rochester hardcore band KODIVK stand against the thin blue line in new single “Bastards”

1 min read

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Jay Maas (former DEFEATER) at Jay Maas Recording, the new EP from Rochester, NY hardcore band KODIVK speaks on sexual assault and protest, along with individual strifes plaguing our society. “New Pain”  is slated for May 31st release through all streaming platforms, but today we’re unveiling a new heavy jam called “Bastards”, giving you a proper jab and putting it together into a nice combo, along with previously released single “Catch And Kill”. Listen to both new track below!

“The song faces down both the justice system and the state of the our nations police forces. It speaks on the disregard both have for human life – specifically minorities. Evident through biased laws, excessive police brutality and the inability to punish those that are abusing their power for their own personal conquests. The world is becoming a scarier and scarier place to live, and this song questions why we are asked to show respect to those that choose to serve only themselves, and not the citizens (us) they swore to protect.”

After releasing our debut single and EP in 2017 the lineup found a new drummer and bassist, and along with it, a new sound as well. The music has always been based around guitar riffs and tones that will get your blood pumping and drumming that you cant help but move to. The target remains the same from one album to the next, but the sound has gotten meaner, the style a bit catchier, and the lyrics and vocals as ugly and angry as ever.

Catch KODIVK live at our release show on 6/15 – Rochester, NY @ The Bug Jar.

KODIVK is: Jason LaManna – Vocals; Dave Foos – Guitar; Chris Doyle – Guitar; Travis Handley – Bass/Vocals (Former Hideout); Ryan Till – Drums/Vocals (Former With Daggers)

The band dropped their first single off the EP two weeks ago. Check out “Catch and Kill” below:
