Such a harsh, raw and heavy blend of elements would seem a rather inappropriate for many rock or metal bands, but when you are operating in the underground scene, there’s a good chance there’s a name for such a mixture, and it’s called grindcore. To make it filthier, Israeli punks and metalheads came up with a special term “schur”, which defines the amalgam of hardcore punk, grindcore, dbeat and death metal, and the newest debu offering from Rehovot basd band SCUD is a perfect example of this style.
Comprised of just two members, Omer Harif (Guitars & Vocals) and Yonatan Marom (drums), SCUD was formed this past summer. Lyrically, the band’s work is inspired by “he harsh and corrupted reality in Israel”, and it’s impossible not to give their intense riffs and organic feel an earnest recommendation, despite its rough edges.
The last two years in Israel were rewarded by a great wave of new bands and new killer releases worth a check, so please be sure to check out some of the other local bands: Kluvim, Britney Speed, Karkait, Turbo Torpedo, and MooM.
