Seattle doom act DEHISCENT premiere new eerie video for “Arson” – watch here!

1 min read

Just a week ahead of their upcoming tour with DarkMysticWoods (also from Seattle) and right before the release of their new split with STERILEPRAYER on Blackhouse Records Ltd, doom metallers DEHISCENT are joining us for a special premiere of their new cinematic, eerie music video for “Arson”!

The ties between hardcore punk, metal, doom, experimental, and noise have been very apparent throughout the years. It seems as though it is not surprising when you find that the same people that grew up on bands like Black Flag, T.S.O.L and Minor Threat could also tell you all about St. Vitus, Melvins, Throbbing Gristle, Wolf Eyes, Merzbow, and countless others.

The community is vast, and in a lot of cases the crossover is a biproduct of members cutting their teeth in the punk scene before transforming and shifting direction for the sake of keeping things evolving. Washington state’s Dehiscent and Sterileprayer are no exception to the rule.

Blending the best elements of metal, stoner rock and doom to present a very heavy, brooding experience, Dehiscent features ex-members of some prominent Seattle-area bands.

Influences across the spectrum, Dehiscent melds the straightforward thoughtful grooved-out heaviness of Sabbath, Cathedral and the Melvins with the depraved and scowled elements of bands like Eyehategod and the old Pessimiser Records bands like Crom, 16, and Grief. A listening experience that truly leaves its sonic mark among the heavy music community.

As for Sterileprayer, side B of the listening experience is a total change. From northern Idaho just below the Candian Border, having a slew of releases under his belt receiving critical acclaim from the likes of Cvlt Nation, MetalSucks, Decibel Magazine, and more, these five tracks are a array of an experimental variety.

From harsh noise to soundtrack-esque ambient music, you’ll encounter the loud, the nearly-silent, and everything in between. Channeling the influences of old Atrax Morgue to Einstürzende Neubauten to Caterina Barbieri to Merzbow, the range is vast and all-encompassing. A truly unique compilation of works contributed to the fold.

Order “Dehiscent x Sterileprayer SPLIT” LP/CD here. Pre-Orders for the vinyl and CD are available now via Blackhouse Records Ltd. Limited to only 200 copies made all on mixed colored vinyl (no two copies pressed are the same).

Dehiscent will be kicking off a US tour in July with Seattle doom cohorts supporting the new record.
