Sigur Ros have announced they are going on tour this summer with a 41-piece orchestra in both Europe and North America. The tour will coincide with the release of their first studio album in a decade.
The Icelandic band will debut their new songs on a limited run of special dates, starting with London’s Meltdown Festival where they will perform with the London Contemporary Orchestra on June 16. They will then travel to countries such as France, Holland, and Germany before heading to Canada and the US.
The band will be accompanied by the Wordless Music Orchestra in North America where they will perform their new material and favourites from their extensive catalogue. All orchestral dates will be conducted by Rob Ames.
Sigur Ros will be performing at festivals across Europe throughout the summer where they will play without the orchestra. The album will feature original keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson, who rejoined Sigur Ros in 2022 after leaving for a decade to focus on other musical projects.
The band has been writing and recording for the past few years and is excited to debut their new songs to the world. The tour will conclude on August 28 in Los Angeles.
Fans can expect a unique experience with Sigur Ros’ beautiful and haunting music accompanied by the grand sound of a full orchestra.
