Songs to Listen in the Van by ABRASKADABRA

2 mins read

Fresh off the February release of their new album ‘Welcome’, Brazilian ska punk rock ensemble ABRASKADABRA are currently on the road in America, spanning across the nation ending in Denver on 5/05 (full dates below), and they were kind to find some time and pick out a set of their favorite songs to listen while being on tour, energy charging tunes that embody summer in an undeniably vibrant and exciting colour palette. Here’s what we’ve received – see the Spotify playlist and their quick commentary below.

Arising in mid-2003, Abraskadabra‘s new album Welcome delivers their own vision of the ska punk essence. Written as a whole band, they searched for a raw punchy sound while exploring the full capacity of melody. Instead of recording in a traditional studio environment, the seven-piece ensemble crammed themselves into an old house and captured everyone’s feelings and motivations in the moment.

Since inception, the band has toured all around Brazil and the US, sharing the stage with legends like Bad Religion, Rise Against, Goldfinger, Less Than Jake, and many more. In 2014, the band’s cover of No Use For Name’s “Not Your Savior” was featured in the Fat Wreck Chords doc A Fat Wreck.

Me first and the gimme gimmes – nothing compares to you.

Just a beautiful song and pretty cool to sing along on the road.

Elton John – Rocket Man

A mellow song.

Goldfinger – This Lonely Place

You got to play Goldfinger on a road trip, it’s just what you do.

The Cure – Just like Heaven

Classic song.

Masked Intruder – Saturday night alone

Great melodies and pace.

Frenzal Rhomb – Knuckleheads

One of a few unanimous bands in Abraskadabra.

KISS – Detroit Rock City

We did a gig in Detroit so this song pretty much had to be played.

No Fun At All – The Humdrum Way

Hardly these guys disappoint, this new song proves that.

Ignite – Bleeding

One of the best bands to get you going on the road.

Not on tour – I wanna be like you

Fast and melodic, great for a road trip.

The clash – train in vain

One of our favorites from the masters.

Queen – Radio Ga Ga

Queen is the shit, enough said.

The Suicide Machines – Junk

Just so anxious to see they playing on Back to the Beach festival.
