Swedish grim post hardcore beast MARIDIA share new single “I Am A Whisper”

Stockholm-based MARIDIA joins us today to immerse you in a harrowing narrative with their latest track, I Am A Whisper. The song intertwines the crushing weight of modern alienation with grim, post-hardcore intensity, presenting a piece that is as demanding as it is thematically unsettling.

With a deeply personal commentary accompanying its release, I Am A Whisper transcends the boundaries of strict subgenres to strike at something more universal: the fragility of human connection.

The story behind the song begins on a Swedish internet forum, where guitarist Adrian encountered a post that left a lasting impression on the band. The anonymous writer detailed a struggle with purpose and belonging—an unflinching account of loneliness as a constant presence, not necessarily suicidal but devoid of compelling reasons to continue. Clinging to a mantra of giving life “one final year” at a time, the writer epitomized a silent battle familiar to many. This raw narrative became the backbone of I Am A Whisper.

“Whoever wrote this post seemed to be a nice person who really tried everything to feel better and included in society,” MARIDIA shared in their track commentary. “But we couldn’t help to think about how easy it could be for someone feeling like this to slip and disappear, hurt himself, or get woven into incel-culture.”

The track’s lyrics reflect this isolation with haunting precision:

“I’m a whisper, nothing but a whisper / My name might be spoken, it travels, but is always forgotten.”

Through stark verses and chilling refrains, the song encapsulates the experience of being a ghost in one’s own life—a presence barely acknowledged and consistently fading into insignificance.

Musically, I Am A Whisper is a dense composition that weaves storytelling into its sound, merging post-hardcore ferocity with sludge-metal weight and post-metal atmospheres.

The result is an unsettling soundscape that mirrors the themes of disassociation and despair.

The band’s ambition is clear: not to offer easy answers but to create a moment of recognition for anyone who feels unseen. “With our creativity, our hope is to at least make someone feel seen, less lonely, and remind them of the connection with other human beings,” they explain.

“Afraid to anchor so slowly we drift apart / Beside my coffin, I am standing, insignificant.”
