Swedish melodic post hardcore band CELESTICA have debuted a new track from their upcoming debut LP, mastered by Jack Shirley (LOMA PRIETA / DEAFHEAVEN) to be released later this year. Titled “Saccharine”, the new pop-driven post hardcore track is a clever and energetic display of the band’s creativity and reminds of what is so addictive about the original post hardcore subgenre. Can’t wait to hear the full album!
The band commented:
The song was originally intended to have extremely depressing lyrics, while instrumentally sound upbeat; but we changed the theme when we realised that the exact same thing has been done a million times before. Instead, the song deals with the feeling of being discontent when nothing is wrong – looking back on bad habits and romanticising them. And there’s a reference to Parks & Recreation somewhere in the lyrics.
Lyrics:
i could try, try to get past the pain
i realise i have lied to myself for years
that i’m not satisfiedi could fail, fail to leave behind
’cause it still lingers with every step,
looking back at all the things i should’ve donetiny transmission waves on your wrist
i’d love to wear them for you
to dress up in your anxiety and your fearsfleeting, beating, deceiving feelings
leave your marks, see the sparks
of our day dream flicker and fadeyou’re so serene, saccharine
you’re nailed into me
i’ll miss you in the satisfactionyou’re so serene, saccharine
you’re nailed into me
i’ll miss you in the satisfaction
before i wear you offcold caresses, sending you away
but the worst is, it takes some time to let you go
put my love asideyou’re so serene, saccharine
you’re nailed into me
i’ll miss you in the satisfactionyou’re so serene, saccharine
you’re nailed into me
and i’ll miss you in the saddest fashion
before you wear me out
