Texas bands to watch – BEWARE OF DOG rep San Antonio shoegazin’ alt rock scene with “Cold”

1 min read

San Antonio shoegaze trio Beware Of Dog push deeper into their own murky, melancholic sound with their latest single, Cold. It’s a thick, hazy cut that drifts between ethereal fragility and crushing weight, tracked and mixed entirely in their home studio. This is just their fourth single, but it also marks the first glimpse of their debut EP, Junkyard, set to drop in May. More details on that soon.

For now, Cold stands as a moment of transition—both musically and thematically. Jakob Barrios (guitar/vocals), Liseth Rodriguez (drums), and Raul Martinez (bass) pull from the immersive gloom of Glixen and the crystalline textures of Winter, crafting a song that lingers in the space where passion erodes into indifference.

The band are celebrating the release with an all-ages show at The Starlighter in San Antonio on March 22nd. $10 at the door.

Beware Of Dog have teamed up with us to share a list of bands they’ve been listening to—bands that deserve your attention. Check out the list below.

Daze

A sick shoegaze/alternative band from Houston, tx. We’re big fans of their music and have been enjoying listening to them recently and seeing their growth!

Porch Dream

These guys are the homies! They’re from San Antonio and are a three-piece band, just like us, but we played many cool shows together. We love their alternative yet catchy sound. We think they’re underrated and believe everyone must check them out!

U.N.I.T.

These guys are the tightest, most defined, and most brutal punk band in San Antonio ATM. They inspired us to add more punk elements to our music, plus they’re cool folks!

Floats

These guys are another group of homies from SATX that we love and respect. They’ve been around in the indie music scene for a while and admire the hard work they put into themselves to grow as a band! Their new releases are super catchy, and can’t wait for their new stuff!

Postal

These guys are another band from SATX. They’re on the metalcore/emo side, but we love seeing their growth! Moreover, they’re a cool and talented group of underrated folks. We only played one show with them but we would love to play more alongside them in the future!
