THE CONTORTIONIST have begun recording their new album.

Here’s the official word:

Indiana progressive metal powerhouse The Contortionist made the trek down to Audiohammer Studios in Orlando, FL earlier this week to begin the recording process for the follow-up to their stunning 2010 debut, Exoplanet. Famed producers Jason Suecof and Eyal Levi (August Burns Red, The Black Dahlia Murder) will be behind the boards for the new release, which is set to hit stores in late spring/early summer 2012. The new album is already rumored to be one of the most anticipated new albums of 2012 from one of the most buzzed about up-and-coming bands in the new wave of progressive metal.

“The Contortionist’s jaw dropping debut was a special record for Good Fight, being one of the first bands we signed to the label,” states Good Fight Music label head Carl Severson. “Watching them grow since the release of Exoplanet has been awesome. Coupling them with the talents of Jason and Eyal at Audiohammer is going to result in an utter monster of an album! Can’t wait for it.”

“I’m ready for The Contortionist to take my legs and pretzel them through my eyes while my ears get sonically brutalized,” adds co-producer Jason Suecof.

“It’s really cool that we’re recording in the same studio as some of the same bands that we’ve been listening to for a long time. Some of our favorite records have been produced here,” states guitarist Robby Baca. “Jason is crazy as fuck, Eyal is chill as fuck, and we’re a combination of both so it’s a great fit.”
