THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM teams up with Bruce Springsteen

1 min read

Excitement is mounting among fans of The Gaslight Anthem as they announce their first studio album in nine years. Titled “History Books“, this eagerly awaited sixth record from the New Jersey quartet comes on the heels of their comeback to full-time band status last year. The album is due to be released on October 27, under the band’s label, Rich Mahogany Recordings, in association with Thirty Tigers.

Featuring their distinct sound, the band has stayed true to their roots while also embracing new sonic territories. Frontman Brian Fallon stated, β€œWe didn’t have any interest in reinventing what The Gaslight Anthem sounds like,” adding that they were keen to let producer Peter Katis do his magic, crafting a sound that’s “beautiful and sad and fun and exciting all at the same time.”

Accompanying the announcement of the album, The Gaslight Anthem have released the title track “History Books”, which features the legendary Bruce Springsteen. The collaboration with the iconic New Jersey singer has been described by Brian as an unforgettable experience, with him quipping, β€œWhen Bruce Springsteen said I should write a duet for us, I think my head exploded.”

The album, “History Books”, presents a mix of ten tracks including the previously released “Positive Charge” and the Springsteen-assisted title track. The rest of the album offers promising titles like “Spider Bites”, “Autumn”, “Michigan, 1975”, “Little Fires”, “The Weatherman”, “Empires”, “I Live In The Room Above Her”, and “A Lifetime Of Preludes”.
