THE HILLS MOVER’s “Asger” video shares a Kinbaku, Japanese bondage, performance in a way never seen before

Grégoire Fray (aka THE HILLS MOVER, also of the band THOT) has released an outstanding music video in support of his latest record “Winter Shades”, a short collection of engaging folk songs flirting with dry acoustic guitar, distant synth waves, snaking clarinet and ethereal voices. “Asger” was directed by Grégoire himself and Gil Chevigné and features 2 Kinbaku performers Jen Sanitka and Gaëtan C. Bruno.

Kinbaku, known as ‘the beauty of tight binding’, is a Japanese style of Bondage/Discipline/Dominance/Submission erotic practices, which involves tying up bodies with rope, creating complex patterns and original aesthetics.

While the song is about the story of Jan Palach (czechoslovak student who commited self-immolation in 1969 in Prague as a political protest against the end of the Prague Spring and to protest against the “demoralization” of Czechoslovak citizens caused by the occupation by the Warsaw Pact armies), the music video is to explore the meaning of freedom and sacrifice, through multiple Kinbaku performances, including The Hills Mover himself, who’s been roped for the first time of his life ever. A vibrating homage to everyone standing against terror.

Lyrics:

Have you ever though you could be the last, to resist?
I’m trying to find the words that you’ll need, on the fence.
Scream and burn, all the shame that we drag
Raise your fist and shut your mouth wide open
On the edge.

Have you ever tried to use your own skin, as a bomb?
Take my hand and help to rise above my own fears
I’m on this concern, looking for the way to explode
Further than we’ve ever been looking for.

I stand in the past but I can’t save Jan from burning down
All my friends will join we’ll reach the top of the choler.

Have you ever tried to use your writing, as a bomb?
Take my hand and help to rise above my own fears
I’m on this concern, looking for the way to explode
Further than we’ve ever been waiting for.

I wanna run away from this mess
Are we strong enough to keep on believe in love?
