Bay Area-based band Spy has just announced the release of their debut album, Satisfaction, set to hit the shelves in June via Triple B Records.
After forming during the pandemic, Spy has only been playing shows for a couple of years but has quickly become one of the most sought-after bands in the underground scene thanks to their raw, fast, and frantic style of hardcore punk. Spy’s short but strong discography includes 2020’s Service Weapon and 2021’s Habitual Offender EPs, as well as a split with Maniac last year.
With the announcement of their debut album, Spy has also released the lead single, “Big Man.” The song is a two-minute heater that showcases the band’s signature gritty and grimy sound, full of energy and devastating power. It starts off fast and blurry before launching into a breakdown that would make anyone want to set their own house on fire. If you can decipher any of the lyrics, then you’re a true punk.
Satisfaction promises to be a full-length album that stays true to Spy’s hardcore roots, showcasing their unique style and charisma. The album features ten songs, including “Big Man,” and is set to be a must-listen for fans of Trash Talk, Negative Approach, Scowl, and GEL.
