Narrowing down your Top Releases of the Year in such prolific and thriving years of DIY and independent music is a one hell of a task, and considering the offerings span multiple genres, we truly believe it’s unnecessary and unfair to rank these products of one’s creativity, imagination, and hard work. With 2018 coming to a close, our friendly and associated acts and labels have come up with their top albums recommendations of the year and we’re collecting them one by one at this location. Loads of varied releases have made it on this newest addition brought to you by Seattle vegan hardcore act WAKE OF HUMANITY, and we’re pleased to present it in its full, overloaded glory.
WAKE OF HUMANITY‘s debut full length “Fight/Resist“ was released last month via Ugly & Proud Records and Bitter Melody Records.
Chris LaPointe (vocals):
I love top 10 lists but at the same time I agonize over them. It’s kind of something I think about all year. I think a lot of people do that. 2018 has been a prolific year for heavy music and it seems like I’ve been revising this list since June when I started actively keeping tabs. Really, I’ve been keeping tabs since “Savior” by Soft Kill came out (a different heavy). That record dropped and I immediately deemed it as my favorite record of 2018. And it remains as such. That’s my favorite record of 2018 and the rest are standouts that I’ve been way into.
Soft Kill – Savior
