Viscerally frightening: introducing Argentinian mellow black metallers FENECE

March 25, 2019
1 min read

Formed in 2016, FENECE is a Buenos Aires, Argentina based blackgaze / ambient black metal that unquestionably has everything to defend the genre that has carried a lot of baggage and has been plagued with many misconceptions. Their debut EP was released in May 2018, but due to their upcoming agenda and new follow up EP release later this year, we caught up with them to give you a proper introduction of their work and unveil some dark themes behind the bleak trio of concise, yet multi-dimensional tracks. Immerse into their dark landscapes and see the full track by track rundown below.

Our first EP emerged after months of searching for our sound during rehearsals. We were influenced by bands like Altar of Plagues, Deafheaven and Celeste. The songs deal with topics such as spirituality, death, dogmas, and the limits between the immanent and the intangible horror.

V Bonfires

This song is about the breakdown of the self. In a desperate attempt to get away from the pain, we deny it and we don.t deal with it. It is a song about repressed impulses and time, which moves on while burning everything.

VI Echoes

It is about the violent masses and the loss of individuality. We repeat what they tell us without thinking for ourselves and take rumors at face value. We are the polarized people that justify violence with a truth that does not really exist.

II Fallen

The song talks about touching bottom and being totally broken, with only our desires and resentment with us. From that abyss we can rise again or remain in darkness.
