Wild punks VENUS TWINS premiere new video for “Stitching”

1 min read

VENUS TWINS, the hardcore noise-punk duo from Denton, Texas, has dropped their latest video “Stitching” off their new EP, “/\/\/\/\/”, set for release on November 8th with Three One G Records.

Known for their intense, telepathic connection, twins Matt and Jake Derting channel a unique brotherly synergy into their raw, chaotic sound. “Being twins is definitely an unusual life experience; it seems the only way Venus Twins works is that the only two people in the band have this specific connection to one another,” they explain.

Formed in 2018, VENUS TWINS left Texas for Brooklyn, carrying their gritty DIY roots into the New York noise and screamo scenes.

From the very start, VENUS TWINS charged forward with unrestrained intensity. Within months of formation, they released Kickass and later followed it up with Eat Your Dogs, marking their transition to Brooklyn. Their relentless two-year tour cycle, averaging a show every 3.4 days, had them sharing stages with acts like WHORES., HEAVENLY BLUE, and PONS. “It was a grind, but it was necessary,” Matt notes, underscoring the trials they faced along the way. Inspired by the visceral sounds of HELLA, MACHINE GIRL, and MELT BANANA, VENUS TWINS blend frenetic bass and drums into a sonic assault that pulls at the seams of hardcore and noise rock.

In terms of influences, VENUS TWINS draw from a blend of hardcore punk, experimental noise, and screamo, with nods to visual artists like Kurt Vonnegut and Robert Eggers, capturing the frenetic and often surreal energy of New York City. When asked about Brooklyn’s indie circuit, the twins highlight artists like MODEL/ACTRIZ, WINCE, DALLAS COWBOYS, and WATER FROM YOUR EYES. Their ability to fluidly navigate different scenes reflects the duo’s willingness to explore and grow alongside the chaos.

With their EP release show scheduled for November 13 at Trans Pecos, and an upcoming slot opening for BLOOD BROTHERS at Warsaw on December 16, VENUS TWINS have plenty in store. “We’ve been writing and scrapping sooo many songs,” Matt shares, hinting at their ongoing creative process that’s shifted towards more DIY laptop recordings. But when it comes to future projects, they remain elusive: “I like surprises,” Matt adds.
